Clydesdales pulling carriage at the Lebanon Horse Parade 2012

The Lebanon Horse Drawn Carriage Parade and Festival was a hit this year…just like every other year. My mother and daughter came along with me for the afternoon parade. We had great weather, sunny and 60 outside. The day actually started out cloudy but the sun finally broke out around halfway through the parade. There were around 122 entries for the parade and it lasted an hour. I really enjoy the huge draft horses but I must admit, the variety that the minature ponies and donkies bring is nice. I posted the highlights here but you can see the rest on my Facebook and/or Flickr accounts.

Enjoy the photos!

Horse Parade

I sat next to a retired couple who made the drive all the way from Chillicothe and they told me this was their first year. They had owned Percheron horses and even had them in a parade out in Bainsbridge, Ohio. After it was all said and done, I asked them if they enjoyed the horse parade, the husband remarked they are coming back again. I think that sums it up!

Festival

After the parade we headed into festival area and went searching for some good food. There was plenty to be found, I ended up getting a met with red & green peppers…YUM!

  1. good job. the black horses are impressive. white brick house makes awesome backdrop.

    • Thanks Bryce. You are right about the white brick house but it was not my intended backdrop. I was actually setup to shoot the opposite direction but the parade switched directions on me for the first time. I was caught off-guard and tried to use that house the best I could.

  2. Great pictures, I always enjoy seeing through your eyes! Thanks!

  3. I was there that day. Loved seeing your photos and reliving what a great time we had. Your photos are beautiful!

    • Thank you Sara! I’m glad I can return something for all the hard work the city, volunteers, and horsemen put into this annual event. It has become a tradition for our family.

  8. What amazing pictures. I was there and your pictures truly capture the beauty of the horses. So glad you captured the ones acting like horses. Love those pics. Great job Stacy.

  9. I’m one of the horseman from the parade. I’m interested in buying a print from you if you’re willing to sell me one. Let me know.
