The Lebanon Horse Drawn Carriage Parade and Festival was a hit this year…just like every other year. My mother and daughter came along with me for the afternoon parade. We had great weather, sunny and 60 outside. The day actually started out cloudy but the sun finally broke out around halfway through the parade. There were around 122 entries for the parade and it lasted an hour. I really enjoy the huge draft horses but I must admit, the variety that the minature ponies and donkies bring is nice. I posted the highlights here but you can see the rest on my Facebook and/or Flickr accounts.
Enjoy the photos!
I sat next to a retired couple who made the drive all the way from Chillicothe and they told me this was their first year. They had owned Percheron horses and even had them in a parade out in Bainsbridge, Ohio. After it was all said and done, I asked them if they enjoyed the horse parade, the husband remarked they are coming back again. I think that sums it up!
In the photo above you can see the line in front of the Golden Lamb Inn as people are waiting for the free carriage rides.
“Ike & John” are pictured here in the last three photos. I have seen them here every year and they are fun to photograph when they are waiting for the carriage to fill up.
